ROCKET COUPLE ON THE WAY (Carmen and Batard)

 Hello guys. I was thinking on what to write and realised that after irmandinhos and antipodes, if i write about dog warriors and Carmen-Batard i will fulfill the warbands section for TAK. I said to myself whynot and wanted two write mainly on these 2 units too.

However, i want to make some comments about all of our warband options, to find out  when we need to use which warband in TAK, later in a different thread.

So ladies and gentleman. Carmen and Batard.

Carmen and Batard is a really classy unit with extreme close combat potential. Maybe she is the best on with this ability. At first sight, she seems like a standart warband. CC22 , martial arts2. She can reach to cc25 maximum value in close combat and it seems ordinary when you compare it with other warbands in infinity. Why is she special ?

Carmen shines when you realise her burst potential. She has heavy pistol+1 burst. Only with weapon, she reaches burst two. But more over, she has a friend "Batard" that she brings to table. Together with her partner, she has CC25 burst 3 close combat attack power. Heavy pistol has shock property and its' damage is 14. This is really cool.

Against any nowound inc. troop, this is deadly. Carmen is natural born warrior. So she is also a warband killer. Poor steel phalanx units.

To see how powerful Carmen is, lets check the situation against Achilles.

If Carmen attacks Achilles in close combat with Batard, she attacks with 3 burst CC25 . Mighty Achilles can not gain any bonus against Carmen but loosing 3 more points in close combat since Carmen har martial arts level 2. So Achilles replies with CC22 only.  Carmen has more chance to kill Achilles. 

Carmen has DA ccw as well. So you can decide about loosing a burst to gain a chance for double armor check. With batard it suddenly becomes an attack a CC25 2 burst for a potential of 4 arm checks. Which one would you choose here ?

My suggestion is if it is a must to win the face to face ( Like your opponent is a myrmidon ) use better burst. If your opponent has more wounds and doesnt have many cc skills go with DA ammo.

Carmen is V:dogged. She can insist on killing something if she even dies in process. She is like a rocket that never turns back.


Apart from close combat , Carmen has serious attack power in close ranges. Heavy pistol with 3 burst + Trenchhammer is dangerous against any unit. She can clean around with 2 chainrifles while Batard is throwing its' trenchammer with ph15.

Carmen brings also smokes. Smoke grenade launcher is not a perfect way to smoke around with BS11 but still something for long range. She has also smokes with ph13+3 in close range coverage.

One of the fastest units in the game, carmen is impetious with a motorcyle. Batard which is an upgraded antipode moves 6-6 and has cc22. He has mimetism(-3) and dogged as well. Peripheral Batard moves with Carmen and follows his master where ever she goes. Batard has CC (shock) . There would be times that you want to use your doggie only and keep Carmen safe. So Batard can do the job alone against one troop if you are in need.

One more thing; Batard has sensor. So this couple can go really fast like a rocket and reach opponents' side very quickly then sensor camo troops around. 

Carmen and batard is 17 points only. Most probably, they will not survive the process but deserve the points spend on them.

You can sacrifice Batard to koalas and madtraps if you need. Ph15 Batard is a safe bet here.

Both units have dodge plus 2 inches. This makes them to change their position easily if they dodge the attack or you can easily get in close combat with nearby units. 4 inch can really help you doing this trick.

Imagine that a nearby hacker is trying spotlight you, you can dodge without lof and get in close combat with the hacker who was thinking to spotlight you was a nice idea.

We were about to forget. Carmen has booty. Lets evaluate with checking the table below.

Apart from DA CCW and Movement, all the options mean something and sometimes alot. HMG, MSV, Mimetism, Grenades, EXP CCW, Monofilament CCW are all awesome. Booty here helps more to the unit, when you compare the situation with irmandinho.

If you like, you can continue killing things in flash mode with move 8-4. You dont need a bike anymore. So leave it and climb anywhere you like. Extra arms are cool too. 

Impetious troops are always in threat in their first movement. Missile launchers,snipers etc can kill you. So Idea is using a cheaper smoker first. You can try irmandinho first and with the smoke (if he is succesful) you can move-move with your impetious movement to reach mid table with ease.

Conclusion

I don't understand why Carmen is not popular among TAK players but she is really cool unit. 17 points is really reasonable. Serious threat with great close combat potential.
